SUBJECT: Restriction to Anchor in the UAE Territorial Waters
Ref: Attached a copy of Circular No (10) 2018 - dated: 07/05/2018.
(Issued by Federal Transport Authority, UAE, enforcing ‘Merchant Ships Anchorage Regulations in UAE’).
Mariners are advised that, starting from 01.06.2018, no ships shall be permitted to anchor outside designated port anchorages in UAE territorial waters. Ships that are intending to anchor inside anchorage area at any RAK Ports shall appoint an approved marine agent and comply with port procedures. In addition, no ships (irrespective of size and type) shall enter the port limits without first obtaining the permission of respective Port Control.
Port Control will monitor all movements and activities of ships beyond port limits and adjacent to territorial waters, and the port authority will report any offence to the Federal Transport Authority.
Please note this applies to vessels anchoring and not to the innocent passage of vessels through UAE territorial waters as per International Maritime Law and applicable UAE Rules.
Owners, Operators, Agents, Charterers should ensure that the contents of this Notice are made known to the masters or persons in charge of their vessels or craft.
