Roy Cummins (Chief Executive Officer)
RAK PORTS is pleased to welcome Roy Cummins to RAK Ports as Chief Executive Officer who joined on 1st February 2023.
Roy is a senior ports executive with more than 30 years’ experience in critical infrastructure and maritime logistics. With an impressive track record of delivering best in class results in a diverse range of businesses in challenging operational domestic and international settings including the UAE, Roy has managed a capital city port and has container, bulk and general cargo experience. Most recently as CEO at Port of Brisbane, Roy is strong on strategic and organizational development as well as stakeholder management. Roy is a recognized leader, and a strong team player with a leadership approach that promotes collaboration, fosters innovation, and empowers teams whilst embedding a strong safety culture. In addition, Roy comes with a commendable growth and commercial drive that will complement and support the team in achieving RAK Ports ambitious growth aspirations.
JOHN ANGUS DAVIES (CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER)
A Durham University graduate (B.Sc Natural Sciences) John is fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) with over 25 years of finance and administration experience. After beginning his career as trainee accountant at Blyth Harbour Commission (Port of Blyth), a UK Trust Port, and after undertaking several roles within the business including responsibility for the finance and company secretarial roles for a number of the Ports subsidiary undertakings he was appointed as Secretary & Finance Director in 2001. In November 2016, John took up his current role as Chief Financial Officer of the Ras Al Khaimah Ports Group with responsibility for the Groups financial, administrative and human resource (HR) functions.
NISHEN REDDY (CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER)
Nishen Reddy has accumulated over 23 years of experience in the Maritime Industry, with various international postings over his career. Having held senior management positions within the AP Moller- Maersk Group, APM Terminals, Transnet SOC Ltd, P&O Ports and the DP World Group, he has developed strong business acumen in the industry and has used this experience and knowledge effectively and decisively to oversee the day-to-day activities of various business units.
His areas of expertise include General Management, Operations Management and Process Optimization and has been actively involved in several successful Merger and Acquisitions, Business Development and Project Implementation opportunities. Having successfully led teams of varying sizes, he is able to develop capabilities within organizations by adopting an analytical yet practical approach that translate into sustainable business solutions.
Nishen has successfully completed various international leadership and management courses, holds a MBA degree and is currently studying toward his Doctorate in Business Administration.
CAPTAIN MIKE MAGEE (HARBOUR MASTER)
Michael joined RAK Ports in July 2015 with the mission to structure marine operations to the highest standards and a vision to realise new business opportunities for the port. Captain Michael Magee is a First Class Master Mariner and Harbour Master of RAK Ports. After 15 years commercial seafaring with the British Merchant Navy, he joined Forth Ports PLC in 1997 filling the roles of Harbour Master, Towage Manager and VTS Manager. During this time he amalgamated VTS operational systems, implemented the Port Marine Safety Code and developed safety initiatives for Towage and Maritime Operations. Latterly Michael created Forth Ports Cruise Tendering Operations and initiated Forth Anchorages with both ventures securing high revenues for Forth Ports. Unique projects include international delivery of hull blocks for government commissioned Royal Navy Aircraft Carriers and construction planning for the new Forth Road Bridge.
JUSTIN WARDLE (PORT MANAGER, SAQR PORT)
Justin Wardle – FInstAM(Dip), GCGI, MILT is the Port Manager of Saqr Port who joined the RAK Ports Group in November 2011. Justin served in the Royal Navy for over 24 years, serving at sea and ashore. Prior to RAK Ports he was also the Assistant Royal Naval Liaison Officer (UAE) at the British Embassy, Dubai. He has experience in Global Supply Chain Logistics, Inventories & Warehouse Management, Leadership & Management, Health & Safety, Security and Investors in People. Holding an Honors Degree in Leadership & Management, a Diploma in Administrative Management, Diploma in Port Management, is also a Fellow of the Institute of Administrative Management and a Member of the Institute of Logistics & Transport, he is a qualified ISO 9001/14001/45001 Lead Auditor, Port Facilities Security Officer, and is currently studying towards an MBA in Port Management.
TIM SMITH (PORT MANAGER, AL JAZEERA PORT)
Tim has spent more than 20 years in the ports sector; with industry experience across the Middle East, the United Kingdom, and the Caribbean. He has expertise in managing safe and efficient break-bulk and container terminal operations, port consulting, and the delivery of port infrastructure development projects. Tim has developed a robust knowledge of port operations and has delivered port consulting and advisory services, for clients realigning a terminals functionality, or developing greenfield port projects. He is keen on port sustainability and technology initiatives, a creative problem solver and an expert at operational strategy development, with the ability to develop strong relationships with stakeholders and customers.
