CAPTAIN CLIFF BRAND (CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER)
With an early career in the British Merchant Navy, progressing to Master aboard bulk carriers, AHTS and other specialist vessels in the offshore oil and gas industry, in 1997 Cliff joined the UK’s Marine Accident Investigation Branch as an Accident Investigator. In 2004 he took up the post of Maritime Administrator for the Government of Gibraltar., this leading to a 2 year appointment as Chief Executive of Gibraltar Port Authority. In 2008 he returned to the UK to take up the post of Harbour Master and Marine Director for Harwich Haven Authority, which encompasses the UK container port of Felixstowe. In 2012 he was appointed Marine Director for the Ports Development Company in Jeddah Saudi Arabia, the master planners and developers of the new 20m TEU King Abdullah Port. In May 2015 he took up the post a Group General Manager of Ras Al Khaimah Ports Group; this leading to Chief Executive Officer upon organizational restructure. Cliff Brand was awarded a BSc (Hons) is Shipping Operations from Southampton Solent University; UK, and an MBA in Shipping and Logistics from Middlesex University; UK. He is a Fellow of the Nautical Institute, and a Younger Brother of Trinity House.
JOHN ANGUS DAVIES (CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER)
A Durham University graduate (B.Sc Natural Sciences) John is fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) with over 25 years of finance and administration experience. After beginning his career as trainee accountant at Blyth Harbour Commission (Port of Blyth), a UK Trust Port, and after undertaking several roles within the business including responsibility for the finance and company secretarial roles for a number of the Ports subsidiary undertakings he was appointed as Secretary & Finance Director in 2001. In November 2016, John took up his current role as Chief Financial Officer of the Ras Al Khaimah Ports Group with responsibility for the Groups financial, administrative and human resource (HR) functions.
ROGER CLASQUIN (CHIEF COMMERCIAL OFFICER)
Roger Clasquin joined RAK Ports in January 2019 and has 40 years of experience in practically all aspects of shipping, logistics and (international) port management. His versatile career of many different managerial positions took him to many different international locations. He thus avails of an extensive global network of contacts in practically all fields of the shipping and ports industry. After a long period in shipping with Hamburg Süd, he became the first Director of Port of Rotterdam International in 2008. In this capacity he started up Rotterdam’s international port management activities and successfully developed Port of Rotterdam’s portfolio of international port participations and port consultancy activities. In 2016 he became the Managing Director of Steder Group, an international logistics and maritime services company.
CAPTAIN MIKE MAGEE (HARBOUR MASTER)
Michael joined RAK Ports in July 2015 with the mission to structure marine operations to the highest standards and a vision to realise new business opportunities for the port. Captain Michael Magee is a First Class Master Mariner and Harbour Master of RAK Ports. After 15 years commercial seafaring with the British Merchant Navy, he joined Forth Ports PLC in 1997 filling the roles of Harbour Master, Towage Manager and VTS Manager. During this time he amalgamated VTS operational systems, implemented the Port Marine Safety Code and developed safety initiatives for Towage and Maritime Operations. Latterly Michael created Forth Ports Cruise Tendering Operations and initiated Forth Anchorages with both ventures securing high revenues for Forth Ports. Unique projects include international delivery of hull blocks for government commissioned Royal Navy Aircraft Carriers and construction planning for the new Forth Road Bridge.
JUSTIN WARDLE (PORT MANAGER, RAS AL KHAIMAH PORT AND FREE ZONE)
Justin Wardle – AInstAM(Dip), GCGI, MILT is the Port Manager of Ras Al Khaimah Port who joined the RAK Ports Group in November 2011. Justin left the Royal Navy after completing over 24 years, serving at sea and ashore. Prior to RAK Ports he was also the Assistant Royal Naval Liaison Officer (UAE) at the British Embassy, Dubai. He has experience is in Global Supply Chain Logistics, Inventories & Warehouse Management, Leadership & Management, Health & Safety, Security and Investors in People. Holding an Honours Degree in Leaderships & Management, a Diploma in Administrative Management, Diploma in Port Management, a Member of the Institute of Logistics & Transport, he is a qualified ISO 9001/14001/45001 Auditor, Port Facilities Security Officer, Tier 1 & 2 Oil Spill management and is currently studying towards an MBA in Port Management.
DR. ADRIAN PEARSON (PORT MANAGER, SAQR PORT)
Adrian Joined RAK Ports in April 2017 and has over 40 years’ experience in port and marine environments. His formative career was spent at sea as a Deck Officer with Shell Tankers UK Ltd before coming ashore to head the Technical Services Division of SGS in the UK. He later moved to the Murphy Corporation managing ship, rail and pipeline fed oil terminals. Adrian moved to port operations in 2006 initially with Mersey Docks and Harbour Company and later at Portsmouth International Port as Operations Manager and Assistant Harbour Master. He was awarded a Doctorate by the Paris School of Business in November 2015 and an MBA in 2002, he also holds qualifications for Harbour Master, PFSO and RPO. Adrian is a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute and a member of the Nautical Institute.
COLIN GRAY (PORT MANAGER, AL JAZEERA PORT)
Colin Gray is the Port Manager of Al Jazeera Port, who joined the RAK Ports Group in February 2017 as Marine and Security Manager. Colin has over 35 years` experience in Senior and Director of Operations roles in the United Kingdom with the last 10 years working in the Oil and Gas industry here in the Middle East, where he held positions with Fugro, Abu Dhabi and Horizon Survey and Geotechnical, Sharjah. He has achieved accredited qualifications in Leadership, logistics and Project Management, including a Certificate of Professional Competence, gained at Northumbria University, UK and MCA Level 5 / IMO Level 3 Oil Spill Management, accredited by the Nautical Institute.
SCOTT KEDDLE (FREE ZONE MANAGER)
The Free Zone Manager is Scott Keddle. Scott joined the RAK Ports Group in April 2017. He has extensive knowledge of UAE Freezones and provides overall commercial advice and support to Saqr Port / Free Zone. Scott is an England & Wales qualified solicitor who has previously worked for regarded international law firms Eversheds Sutherland LLP and DAC Beachcroft LLP. Scott has a BA (Hons) in International Politics and Economics from Loughborough University, a Graduate Diploma in Law from Nottingham Law School and a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from Cardiff Law School.
